Platform Presets

Optimized export settings for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Platform-Specific Guidance

Each platform has different requirements and best practices for video. Toast's presets handle the technical settings — this guide covers best practices for each platform.

YouTube

YouTube 1080p

  • Resolution: 1920x1080
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Best for: Standard videos, tutorials, vlogs

YouTube 4K

  • Resolution: 3840x2160
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Best for: Maximum quality, visually rich content

Tips for YouTube

  • Use SRT subtitles (download separately) instead of burn-in — YouTube adds translation and search indexing
  • 1080p is sufficient for most talking-head content
  • YouTube Shorts (under 60 seconds) should use the TikTok preset (9:16)

TikTok

  • Resolution: 1080x1920
  • Aspect Ratio: 9:16
  • Best for: Short clips under 3 minutes

Tips for TikTok

  • Always burn in captions — most TikTok users watch without sound
  • Keep videos under 60 seconds for maximum reach
  • Use the Viral Clips feature to extract TikTok-ready segments from longer videos

Instagram

Instagram Reels

  • Resolution: 1080x1920
  • Aspect Ratio: 9:16
  • Same settings as TikTok

Instagram Square

  • Resolution: 1080x1080
  • Aspect Ratio: 1:1
  • Best for: Feed posts, carousels

Tips for Instagram

  • Reels are the highest-reach format on Instagram
  • Square format still works well for in-feed posts
  • Burn-in captions are essential for Reels

LinkedIn

  • Resolution: 1920x1080
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Best for: Professional content, thought leadership

Tips for LinkedIn

  • Keep videos under 3 minutes for best engagement
  • Burn-in captions are recommended — LinkedIn autoplays on mute
  • Use the Minimal caption style for a professional look

Twitter / X

  • Resolution: 1280x720
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Best for: Short clips, commentary

Tips for X

  • Maximum video length is 2 minutes 20 seconds for most accounts
  • 720p is sufficient — X compresses heavily anyway
  • Short, punchy clips perform best
